A diverse mix of leaders from across Ethiopia’s green economy landscape gathered in Addis Ababa for the Green Finance Workshop, a high-level event organized by the Africa-China Centre for Policy and Advisory (ACCPA) with support from the African Climate Foundation (ACF).
The workshop, held at the Golden Tulip Hotel, attracted over 45 participants representing banks, government ministries, private enterprises, civil society organizations, green startups, and development partners, making it one of the most inclusive gatherings on green finance in Ethiopia to date.
Themed “Unlocking Sustainable Industrial Growth for Ethiopia,” the workshop focused on addressing practical challenges and opportunities in mobilizing green capital to support Ethiopia’s industrial transformation and climate goals.
In his opening remarks, Paul Frimpong, Executive Director of ACCPA, called for bold, coordinated efforts to link finance with the country’s sustainability ambitions.
“To build a truly green and inclusive industrial future, we must align vision with investment, and commitment with collaboration,” said Frimpong. “This workshop is a call to action for leaders across sectors to move from intent to implementation.”

Sahele Fekede, Programme Manager for Energy Access and Transitions at the African Climate Foundation, closed the workshop by reaffirming ACF’s dedication to supporting green industrial finance across the continent and applauded the role of institutions like ACCPA in driving practical impact.

Participants left the workshop energized and eager for continuity, with many expressing a shared interest in seeing the platform evolve into a sustained community of practice for green finance policy, research, and implementation.
The Green Finance Workshop – Addis Ababa 2025 not only sparked critical conversations but also laid the groundwork for future partnerships and pathways to scale green finance solutions that are aligned with Ethiopia’s development priorities and Africa’s broader sustainability goals.
