In 2015, the Digital Silk Road (DSR) was introduced as the technological dimension of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), with an aim to improve digital connectivity and promote digital economic growth in BRI countries.
Despite gaining increasing attention over the last few years, the DSR remains poorly understood and new opportunities for deeper collaboration are often overlooked.
Although China’s digital influence in African countries began long before the concept was officially adopted, the DSR constitutes an unprecedented opportunity to further promote Africa-China win-win relationship.
