Overview

From December 13-15, 2022, at the invitation of the US President, Joe Biden, 49 African Heads of State, along with the Chairman of the African Union, were in Washington D.C and participated in the 2nd U.S.- Africa Leadership Summit.

The Summit highlighted how the US is planning to strengthen its partnership with Africa vis-à-vis, as it were, guarding against other interests in the continent, be it China, Russia, Turkey etc.

If you are a key follower of Africa-China relations in any form or shape, then you will probably be familiar with the term FOCAC-Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

Twenty-Two years later, FOCAC continues to serve its purpose as a platform for collective discourse for cooperation between Africa and China.

In this webinar, we seek to explore the current trend of US-Africa Relations and how that will impact the Africa-China relations. What should be Africa’s focus in this renewed interest of US in the continent? And going forward, as a continent, how can we ensure a win-win cooperation between US and the China relations.
