
Speaking at the Ghana–China Climate Summit 2025, held at the AfCFTA Auditorium in Accraon September 16, the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. TONG Defa, reaffirmed China’s strong commitment to Africa’s green development, highlighting Beijing’s pledge to deliver 30 clean energy projects across the continent as announced under the FOCAC 2024 Beijing Action Plan.
The Summit, organized by the Africa–China Centre for Policy and Advisory (ACCPA), with support from the African Climate Foundation, brought together more than 250 participants including government officials, diplomats, development partners, academics, civil society leaders, and private sector players. It marked the first-ever high-level Ghana–China dialogue dedicated to advancing climate action, renewable energy, sustainable infrastructure, and climate finance.
In his keynote address, Ambassador TONG underscored China’s readiness to partner with Ghana in accelerating its green transition:
“China stands ready to work hand-in-hand with Ghana to ensure that climate cooperation translates into tangible results. The pledge of 30 clean energy projects for Africa reflects our firm belief that green development must be at the heart of Africa–China cooperation.”
The Summit also featured a keynote by Hon. Seidu Issifu, Ghana’s Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability, who expressed Ghana’s determination to leverage the opportunities of the FOCAC 2024 Beijing Action Plan on Green Development. He emphasized Ghana’s readiness to collaborate with China to drive climate innovation and green growth across all sectors.

In his welcome remarks, Mr. Paul Frimpong, Executive Director of ACCPA, described the Summit as “a historic milestone in Ghana–China relations”, stressing the importance of moving from policy statements to practical solutions that benefit both nations and their people.
The program included keynote speeches, plenary sessions, and networking opportunities, generating strong enthusiasm and participation from all stakeholders. Delegates expressed optimism that the Ghana–China Climate Summit will serve as a springboard for long-term collaboration in climate action and sustainable development.
The event formed part of the Sino–African Green Finance Alliance (SAGFA) program, implemented by ACCPA with the support of the African Climate Foundation (ACF).
