ACCPA_Ghana_China_Media_Fellowship_2026

The Africa-China Centre for Policy & Advisory (ACCPA) has officially opened applications for the second edition of the Ghana–China Media Fellowship (GCMF) 2026, a flagship capacity-building initiative designed to strengthen Ghanaian media understanding of China, Ghana–China relations, and emerging global developments shaping Africa–China engagement.

Following the successful implementation of the inaugural edition in 2025, which brought together a diverse cohort of journalists, media professionals, and content creators from across Ghana, the 2026 fellowship returns with an expanded and more immersive structure aimed at deepening professional knowledge, practical reporting skills, and people-to-people understanding.

The Ghana–China Media Fellowship was established in response to the growing importance of Ghana–China relations and the increasing role of the media in shaping public understanding of international partnerships. As Ghana and China continue to engage across trade, infrastructure, investment, technology, education, and cultural exchange, the fellowship seeks to equip media professionals with the tools and context necessary for balanced, informed, and evidence-based reporting.

The 2026 edition adopts a twelve-week hybrid format combining virtual learning and in-person engagement. Participants will undertake intensive workshops covering a broad range of topics, including China’s historical evolution, economic transformation, globalization and the Global South, international cooperation frameworks, China’s zero tariff policy and Ghana’s export opportunities, media ethics, digital narratives, and Ghana–China economic cooperation.

In addition to classroom learning, fellows will participate in field visits to selected Chinese enterprises operating in Ghana, where they will engage directly with business operations, management, workers, and community stakeholders. These visits are intended to provide firsthand exposure and practical reporting opportunities that move beyond theory into real-world experience.

The fellowship will also feature collaborative group assignments, storytelling, and reporting projects aimed at strengthening cross-cultural understanding and people-to-people exchange.

Speaking on the launch of the second cohort, Paul Frimpong, ACCPA’s Executive Director, noted that the fellowship continues to reflect the organisation’s commitment to promoting informed dialogue, professional media development, and deeper understanding of Africa–China relations through knowledge-sharing and practical engagement.

Applications are open to journalists, media professionals, and content creators across Ghana with an interest in international affairs, development cooperation, trade, culture, and Ghana–China relations.

Interested applicants are encouraged to apply through the official application portal before the stated deadline.
