The Africa-China Centre for Policy and Advisory (ACCPA), in partnership with the African Climate Foundation (ACF), has officially launched two landmark country reports for Ghana and Ethiopia under the Sino-Africa Green Finance Alliance (SAGFA) project. The reports offer fresh evidence and policy insights aimed at strengthening Sino-Africa cooperation on green and sustainable finance and supporting national climate transitions across the continent.
The virtual event, held on 9 December 2025, convened policymakers, financial institutions, development practitioners, academic experts, and private sector actors committed to advancing Africa’s climate and green finance agenda.
During the launch, Paul Frimpong, Executive Director of ACCPA, underscored the importance of the SAGFA initiative in bridging African climate priorities with China’s growing green finance ecosystem. He highlighted that the Ghana and Ethiopia reports illustrate actionable steps for deepening South–South cooperation, mobilizing climate-aligned capital, and strengthening institutional readiness across African markets.

Representing the African Climate Foundation, Sahele T. Fekede, who leads ACF’s work on Energy Access and Transitions, emphasized ACF’s continued commitment to supporting African-led research and policy processes that enhance green finance flows. He noted that the findings from both reports will serve as an important resource for shaping policy coherence, strengthening regulatory frameworks, and guiding conversations with Chinese and African financial institutions.
The Ghana country report was presented by Dr. Isaac Ankrah, Senior Research Fellow at ACCPA and Lead Researcher for the SAGFA Ghana Report. His presentation highlighted Ghana’s policy progress alongside the critical gaps that remain in financial sector alignment, regulatory incentives, and investment readiness. The report outlines a practical roadmap for enhancing green finance integration in Ghana, supporting renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and climate adaptation investments.
For Ethiopia, the report was led and presented by Dr. Gebre Tafere, Dean of the College of Social Sciences & Humanities at Debre Berhan University. His analysis noted Ethiopia’s strong climate policy foundation under the Climate Resilient Green Economy Strategy and emphasized the country’s unique potential to advance green investment partnerships, especially in renewable energy, climate-smart agriculture, and resilience-building. The Ethiopia report provides targeted recommendations to unlock these opportunities through strengthened cooperation with Chinese development financing institutions.
