Overview
The Africa-China Centre for Policy and Advisory is convening a high-level virtual policy dialogue to assess the early implications of China’s zero-tariff policy for African economies, which took effect on May 1, 2026.
Granting full tariff-free access to 53 African countries, the policy marks a significant shift in China–Africa trade relations. Yet, beyond market access, critical questions remain around Africa’s readiness, competitiveness, and ability to translate opportunity into real export gains.
This dialogue will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, and experts to deliver a balanced, practical assessment—focusing on what it will take for Africa to move from access to advantage in the Chinese market.
