
The Ghana–China Climate Summit 2025 was successfully hosted at the AfCFTA Auditorium, Accra, bringing together more than 250 participants from governments, the diplomatic community, academia, civil society, and the private sector. The Summit marked a milestone in Ghana–China relations, with discussions centered on advancing climate action, renewable energy, green finance, and sustainable development, aligned with the FOCAC 2024 Beijing Action Plan.
The Summit opened with a welcome address from Mr. Paul Frimpong, Executive Director of the Africa–China Centre for Policy and Advisory (ACCPA), who described the gathering as “a historic milestone in Ghana–China cooperation.” He stressed that the time had come to move from policy statements to practical partnerships that directly serve Ghana’s national priorities and Africa’s green transition.
Delivering a keynote speech, Hon. Seidu Issifu, Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability, shared his vision for embedding climate action across every sector of Ghana’s economy. He emphasized Ghana’s readiness to seize opportunities under the FOCAC 2024 Beijing Action Plan on Green Development and highlighted his ministry’s commitment to resilience, adaptation, and youth employment through climate innovation.
In his keynote, H.E. Tong Defa, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, reaffirmed China’s steadfast commitment to green development in Africa. He emphasized China’s pledge to implement 30 clean energy projects across the continent and its readiness to deepen collaboration with Ghana in renewable energy, sustainable infrastructure, and climate finance. He noted that China views cooperation with Ghana as central to the broader Africa–China green partnership.

The Summit featured keynote speeches, plenary discussions, and networking sessions that sparked robust dialogue among policymakers, diplomats, private sector leaders, and youth representatives. Participants expressed optimism that this new platform would foster innovation, strengthen partnerships, and accelerate the mobilization of climate finance.
The Ghana–China Climate Summit 2025 was convened under the Sino–African Green Finance Alliance (SAGFA) program of ACCPA, supported by the African Climate Foundation (ACF). The event stands as a powerful demonstration of how Ghana and China can work hand-in-hand to advance climate solutions that are practical, inclusive, and future-focused.
